The Pumpkin Patch

Recently Paul's parents came to visit, and they treated us to a day at the pumpkin patch.  It was dreary and muddy, but that was the perfect time to go, because it wasn't crowded at all.
Something kind of funny happened this year with Pierce.  You know he's almost nine now, right?
Well, he humored me sometimes...but other times he seemed conflicted.  Like maybe he thought he was a little too big to be doing some of the pumpkin patch.
Fortunately, his brothers didn't have any hesitation at all.  Here is Cort's best spider face:

The hardest part for Pierce was the cow train.  Oh how he loved the cow train when he was younger.  He waffled back and forth.  He finally got on, but he wouldn't look at us the whole time he was riding around in circles.

Cort and Reid had a blast with the tetherball.  Cort didn't want to leave it, and stayed there while his brothers shot off the corn cannon.

It was a fun day.  I think Pierce even managed to have some fun in spite of being way too cool for the rest of us.

Readers, have you visited the pumpkin patch yet this fall?

Oh, I remember age nine. Wise beyond their years (and ears!). Hug and kiss those little guys, and give your big one a a huge bear hug for me. Linda@Wetcreek Blog

Aw, that's sad when they start thinking it's all dorky. :( But don't get discouraged...he is still having fun, although conflicted. Even if he doesn't ride the train, he is still having fun being with all of you. My kids tell me now how much they loved all of that stuff in spite of their behavior at the time.

He's growing up! :)

And yes, Joe and I went to the pumpkin patch....just the 2 of us.

I like unusual ones and have two white and a green one so far. That age thing continues, so don't be offended.maybe a same age friend tagging along would help.

You know - I was looking at the pictures before reading your post and thought - my goodness - he is soooo grown. I could see the almost teenage attitude creeping through. ;) He's adorable as ever, though, as are the twins!

Sounds like a fun time. I think pumpkin patches are fun for all ages but I understand what Pierce was thinking which of course is just his age right now and the cow ride does look kinda childish.

How wonderful! It looks like a really fun day, and even though it wasn't so cool for Pierce, he sure looked happy! :)

Lisa: I had a good laugh at the facial expressions of the twins! And those skeleton jackets looked fun. Pierce at 9...growing fast! But what a perfect day to have the grounds to yourselves, like VIP's. I think this was a great outing from the photos. I DO remember pumpkin patches. Fun! :)

looks like they all had fun, even the cool one! yes, i'm quite familiar with that look lol...and your part about the train reminded me of the fair one year when ash and christian were too old for this water ride that we made them go on...they looked so terribly bored with it that nick and i were in hysterics laughing at them, we were practically crying every time they'd float by us and we'd see their miserable faces lol...kids are so funny!

Looks they had a fun time at the Pumpkin Patch. I've been to corn mazes but no pumpkin patch. Maybe I should try the patch though. It's probably less scary. :)

Mica's the same way...he didn't want to bounce on the bounce thing. They even had 1 for older kids, and 1 for adults. All of which were packed.

It has been a long time since I visited a Pumpkin Patch. The last time I did... I tramped in dog poop. Do you know how hard that is to get it off your shoes? Of course you do.

Oh, I just love that cow train! We've been to the pumpkin patch, but we don't have anything as cool as that. Oh how sad to think that at age nine, our kiddos are already worried about how it's perceived to enjoy "little kid" things. I know my son didn't fit on the swing at our farm this year. It's so sad sometimes to watch them grow up so fast!
