Coming Home

NYC was fun, but I was ready to get home to see my boys.  Our train left from Penn Station around 12:30.  Sadly, it was delayed a bit.  But luckily, not too much.
Paul and I settled in for the long ride with episodes of The Office, books, magazines, and of course the internet.
Here's a picture taken in Maryland:

Sitting for so long after the marathon definitely left me stiff and sore.  When I would stand up to move around, it would take a minute for my muscles to remember how to work.
We had a brief stopover in Washington D.C. while they switched out the engine.
I thought this double decker train was cool:

We watched the sun set as we rode through D.C.
Check out the Washington Monument in the background:

And that little bubble behind the trees?
The Lincoln Memorial:

A high speed shot from the other side of the Lincoln Memorial:

We didn't get home until around 10 pm.  I longed so badly to sneak in and snuggle my soundly sleeping boys, but I restrained myself.

What a journey!
Special thanks to my mom, who took excellent care of the boys which made our trip possible.
And thanks to Paul, too, who is always willing to cheer me on in my running adventures :-)

What a great trip! That train ride seems like fun (probably more enjoyable without marathon-weary muscles), and I loved the photos.

Hope you got some great squeezes from your boys this morning.

I wish I was at the train station so I could give you a big "HELLO HUG".. and have a big banner sign to welcome you home. You are tiggeriffic~!
I miss the ocean that I used to visit at Ocean City, Maryland when I was a young girl.. Back then one could park the camper right on the beach.. can't do that today. Such memories. I can still smell that special smell that is only at the beach. salty air. Glad you had your pal with you when you went for your run and by your side in everything you do.. Good Job Paul~!
I'll bet the boys were so glad to see you.. Gramma is going to miss them..when she goes home.hope she lives close..
