The other day the family loaded up in the minivan and headed to Pierce's Open House. His class has 16 students and two teachers. One of the teachers told me the cutest story that I had to share.
The assignment was to color pictures red if they were supposed to be red. And if they weren't supposed to be red, the teacher told them to "X it out".
So what did Pierce do? Well he colored the appropriate items red, of course.
But then, instead of "X it out" on the peas, which are supposed to be green, look what he did...
So cute! It's so funny what you think is a clear direction can sound so different to a little one!
I love his take on the assignment. It would be too easy to just put an x. What great higher level thinking skills he was using!
Great story and pretty smart! By coloring outside the lines maybe he's going to be able to 'think outside the box'!
It sounds like he's enjoying school!
How cute! Brings back so many memories of kids proudly bringing their drawings to be posted on the fridge. Next you'll be posting pics of your fridge. :)
Haha! Cute! I wouldn't have thought "exit" but it makes sense!
Makes perfect sense to me! Good for you Pierce! :)
He's a creative guy..thinking outside the box!
That is cute!
I love it! LOL being a person who tends to take things to literal, so I have been told. :O) I guess he took the teacher at her words didn't he! ROFL
Good job Pierce! That is so cute!
I love it! That is just awesome. Very literal!
I am constantly amazed at what my daughter knows that I didn't know she knows. (Tongue twister)
haha super cute!!
That is adorable!
I hope you keep that with the explanation for him for future years. What a sweet story. :)
He's brilliant! I hope his teacher "gets" that!
That is genius! He was doing exactly what the teacher told him :) Great story Lisa. Gloria
That's just the cutest thing! Love this!
He's a smart kid.
I couldn't spell my name until I was 32.
Oh my that is so cute...lol Thanks for stopping by we are settling in wonderfully :)
Aww that's too cute! He's probably the only one who really followed the instructions, she said "Exit out", lol :)
This is great, he went way beyond the call of duty! You need to save this paper! So cute!
Now THAT is one VERY smart kiddo...and thinking OUTSIDE of the box is the best way to be!!!
A+ for Pierce! sandie
Pierce is just too cute Lisa! Gotta love that!
My son would get in trouble for not coloring the entire picture because he was afraid he would get in trouble for coloring outside the lines which they would yell at them for that too. He just couldn't win! I wish I didn't send him to that school.....
Too cute! When Amy was that age she surprised all of us by singing out one day-S-T-O-P stop! when we got to a stop sign. We didn't know she knew the letters and certainly not the word!
What an exciting time for Pierce:)
Smart little guy! I think that deserves extra credit!
I wish I had been that smart when I was his age....heck, come to think of it, I'm not that smart now.
Adorable! He follows directions perfectly.
So cute...and smart! Coloring in the lines is so overrated. :)
Cute is the word
this is the best!! made me smile as i'm trying to wake up :)
I love it! He is such an awesome little man!
Oh my gosh what a smart kiddo! I love this!!
