We Need More Thriller

On November 5th, I heard Christmas music for the first time.

It's not that I don't love Christmas.

It's that it is too early.

In fact, it made me grumpy.

During the entire month of October, I only heard Thriller on the radio ONCE.

Thriller is excellent running music.  You cannot run to Christmas music.  You just can't.

In my opinion, we could use a little more Thriller, and a little less Christmas music.

If it were up to me, I wouldn't allow it until December 1st!

Behold - a nice mushroom picture, that has nothing at all to do with Christmas, because it isn't December yet!

Picture taken last month at the Butterfly Garden.

Alright, readers, am I a grumpy old scrooge, or do you agree?

Seems like we've skipped Thanksgiving and gone straight to the money holiday: Christmas! I have to admit though, I got my Christmas tree up early this year.....

Hey, Lisa. I soooo agree with you! Why do we rush so quickly into Christmas? Frankly, I think hearing Christmas music early takes AWAY from the holiday, spoiling the magic and specialness of the season.

Thank you for posting the Thanksgiving mushroom! I agree---the Christmas music in August is more than a little annoying. It has become a big plug for spending money, which according to Linus, is NOT what Christmas is all about, Charlie Brown. What makes me more crabby is that the stores are now open on Thanksgiving, making employees miss an important day with their families. Where are we going as a society??

i understand what you mean. i prefer to pick when i 1st listen to the music. but i must admit i have been listening to my own in my own house or car. i think what it is - or maybe only for me personally that i prefer picking my own music so when a store picks it for me ... it kind of doesn't make me happy. i think what would the customers shopping wish to listen to? what if they don't celebrate the holidays? that sort of thing??!

i have Michael Jackson's Thriller on stand by ... i have his greatest hits cd. so i enjoy the laughing at the very end of the tune. the hubby would know the man who did that laugh. i can't pull it out of my mind at the moment. but i understand your love or like for the song. enjoy your Thanksgiving week. Around here, we tell the Monkeys that every time a Christmas carol is played or a decoration displayed, prior to Thanksgiving, an elf drowns a baby reindeer!

They think it's funny...

I bought some homemade cards, but can wait. I have one card I got a week ago from NC. When you don't have kids the holidaze slow down. I take the grandkids out for something fun, Mannheim Steam Roller this year.Usually she is after Xmas.Looks like a fairy ring mushroom getting started.

Yep. You're just an old scrooge! HAHAHA... not really. I understand completely. I wish they would wait at least until Thanksgiving is over.

Ha You do sound a wee bit grumpy oh the elves will scatter when they see you running towards them lol
Now i'll be humming Thriller all day and making those creepy dance moves (yup i can do them) lol

You are NOT grumpy, you are RIGHT! I do not want to associate Christmas with Halloween and Thanksgiving, it somehow makes it less special. The reason for the season starts on Dec.1 !!! AND I will not put up a single decoration until Thanksgiving night! Each event needs it's own specialness all to itself! I can see where Thriller would be an excellent exercise song! Hey, I have lost 80 pounds!! Too bad it wasn't before we met.

your title made me think of christopher walken on SNL saying 'we need more cowbell!' :)

and i TOTALLY agree with you on the too-early christmas everything.

I actually listen to it as soon as it's on the radio. Go ahead and hate me. LOL The station was on, and my husband went to drive. The Peanuts theme song was playing. He was tapping to the dash board. After that a full blown Christmas song came on. I busted out laughing. I don't know why I listen to it. It just makes me happy I guess. I know every song just about, so it's easy to sing to.

I never purposely listen to Christmas music. Sorry about the running issue.

I agree with you totally. Halloween doesn't even get over with before we're seeing decorated Christmas Trees! It makes me rather ill-tempered too. The world just keeps rushing things too much.

I dread this time of year because the merchants rush past Halloween and Thanksgiving. I have a one-holiday-at-a-time policy and will not recognize Christmas until AFTER Thanksgiving. But that's just me!

Now they decorate the stores before Halloween. I think all this should wait until a month before Christmas

You're not grumpy. I don't usually listen to Christmas music until after Thanksgiving. Larry has it playing on his Sirius in the truck though, so I have heard some. Too early.

There must be a Christmas song out there somewhere you could run to. :-)

I totally agree, Lisa... I like to get through Thanksgiving before hearing and enjoying Christmas music.... BUT--I heard Christmas music in Cracker Barrel in September... GADS...

Happy Thanksgiving.

If you're grumpy, my young friend, then so am I. I hated seeing Christmas in the stores here even before Halloween. Just not right.

So, we shall be grumpy together until December 1. :0

Oh how I wish I could run..my knees just won't allow it. I do walk, though, and I will admit..I tuned Pandora to my favorite Christmas tunes.. but not for long- I have to up that beat to at least 130-140 to get a good pace. Happy Thanksgiving!

I like to wait until the day after Thanksgiving. :)

We've been tempted to start Christmas early in this house, but we've resisted. I want Lewie to appreciate the important message that comes from Thanksgiving too.

By the way, I'm with you on the music. You just can't exercise to "It's Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas" or "Santa Claus is Coming to Town"...
