Last Days of the Shed

We are really trying to do some garden expansion this year.  Paul wanted to knock down one of our last sheds, which I have been using as a garden shed.  Originally it was a lean to type shed off a larger pole barn.  We are hoping to repurpose some of the wood for a smaller garden tool shed that we will rebuild.
Once the shed is gone, we will open that area up to new garden space.  It's right next to my perennial bed for asparagus and salsify, so I will likely plant more perennials in that area - probably Jerusalem artichokes.

We also have been tilling some new spaces (as you can see, amongst all the mud) so that hopefully my garden size will end up about double what it has been in previous years.  We are putting down cardboard and mulch and hay.

Readers, do you have any new garden projects happening?

You have a nice garden area and it would be nice to have the shed in a non growing area. I have one that I made out of pallets (of course) that I put the tillers and other stuff in during the winter and it is back under a cedar tree. I am still fighting Jerusalem artichokes that I planted years ago. They are about like stick weeds and I would grow them far away from the garden like at the edge of a pasture if I could bring myself to plant them again.

I used to love traveling around and taking black and white photo's of shed's and barns. My project is to actually mow the grass before the City of Roanoke tickets me. They've left thousands of little orange tickets humorously tied to the tiny stems and branches of my neighbors.

It looks like you live in such a beautiful place. (Can you believe the snow we're having? I hope it hasn't put a damper on your gardening projects. It looks like you're ready to go!)

We have ploughed two of the three veg paddocks, and the pigs are busy digging over the third veg paddock. Nothing planted anywhere at the moment!

Not here. Gonna be on reduced gardening again this year to focus on gates and fencing. I might plow up another buckwheat patch though.

Travis is away at an art residency. Apparently I'm horrible - I didn't water the seeds enough that he told me didn't need any watering. I failed.

You have a great place for a garden! The soil looks rich. Larry got some onion plants today but the NWS has a freeze warning out apparently for tomorrow night, so we'll hold off.

The Jerusalem Artichokes are a PAIN! They are like weeds and very difficult to get rid of or contain. Be careful planting them.

Right now I have several seeds started and potato towers have been planted. Waiting to plant large patches of wildflowers this year.

You live in such a gorgeous area. Currently, we are having sand distributed over our lawn to make the ground/sod more level.

No projects here. I've given up on veggie gardens!
I love recycling barn board! We have lots of falling-apart barns here.

No, not where I currently live in the desert. But my indoor plants are doing well. I think you'll be happy with the shed dismantled and the wood re-used. :)
