LeapFrog Summer Camp

Thank you to LeapFrog for sponsoring my post about Leapfrog Summer Camp. To sign up for LeapFrog Summer Camp, please click here. #CleverLFCamp #spon

The past few weeks I've been brainstorming for ideas to keep the boys busy over the summer.  Did you know that studies show that by the time kids return to school after summer vacation, they've lost about one month of learning?  Yikes!  I know it's great for the kids to have some down time, but I don't want them going completely stagnant.  I've toyed with thoughts of doing a summer bucket list (as I have the past couple of years) or even doing organized activity bins for an hour each day.  Then I found out about the LeapFrog Summer Camp and when I went to check it out on their website I was so impressed with the creativity and ideas!

First off, it's free to join!  It's an 8 week program (running from June 4 - July 28) for ages 4-7 and each week has a different theme.  They provide you with all the ideas and activities (like great printables and simple crafts), so you can focus all of your energy on just enjoying your kids.  Pierce and I are particularly excited about the Caring for Animals theme week and the Puzzle Time week.  Obviously, we often incorporate caring for animals into our daily life (since we do live on a farm) and the boys have been really enthusiastic about puzzles lately, but it never occured to me to do specific units on these topics.  I think they will be a huge hit.  Even better?  LeapFrog will also be offering specials on their products and a weekly photo contest with prizes during the duration of the camp.

This is such a great way to be engaged with your children this summer by involving yourself in their learning in a fun and creative way.  If you want to sign up, you can do so now by visiting LeapFrog Summer Camp.   In a couple of weeks, you can look for another post from me telling you all about our experiences with the camp!

This post is sponsored by LeapFrog. I was selected for this opportunity as a member of Clever Girls Collective, and the content and opinions expressed here are all my own.

Hi, I know that because I'm a teacher...and I feel they loose so much of what they knew...It is a shame...and it is a problem that exists all over the world, no matter what country we are!
Now,
thank you for visiting! It is an honor to me and a privilege to have your visit and words. I do really thank you

I love this idea Lisa! Sadly I'm not able to stay home with the kids but Shaune's taking a bit of time off. I'll direct him to their site for the times he has the kids at home.

I can't believe it's almost summer! I'd heard that same statistic too-and so I always tried to find fun ways for Amy to keep learning over the summer. This June, she is attending an archaeological dig site camp in Maryland. She is so excited! And the LeapFrog Summer Camp looks fun too!

Lisa, thank you, thank you, thank you for posting about this!! One of the things I wanted to do this summer was at least 60 minutes per day of learning activities with the kids so they don't lose everything they've learned this past school year but I wanted it to be fun and not boring.

So this is right up our alley!!! I just signed up and I'm looking forward to it starting next week! My kids are gonna love it, esp the first week on transportation!!!

I'm going to tweet about this too and I've already pinned it!!!

Thanks for the idea Lisa - I have signed up and I am hoping Andrew and I can try to at least do most of the projects. We need to have something to do together (just the two of us) - I know he feels a bit left out at times because of the baby. Another cool idea from the 'coolest' Mom I know. Gloria

I just went and gave it a look, can't wait till it starts! I will look forward to seeing what all you will be doing with the boys, and may try some out myself. I have always thought that school shouldn't be out for three months in the summer. It should be more like school all year round, with a week off here and there, maybe a few weeks at Christmas.

Now if they could come up with something similar for kids ages 13-16...lol

Those themes and activities look cool. That's a great way to build some structure into the days while still having fun. And it's free--even better!

What fun! I had never heard of it, but that looks worth looking into for sure!

You asked on my post at what age I had my kids start putting away laundry. Basically, I had them make their beds (with plenty of help), put their laundry away and drag waste baskets to the kitchen trash when they were around two. But I had to help them plenty. They were able to do things more independently by 3 or so.

I've missed reading here. Hoping to ease myself back into blogging and blog reading!

Wow! That is such a surprising statistic. I always thought summer was good for all of us as kids. It's a different time.
