Brancott Estate Flight Song Wine #IC #FlightSongResolution

I participated in an Influencer Activation on behalf of Influence Central for Brancott Estate Flight Song. I received product samples and a promotional item to thank me for my participation.”

In my teen years, I often traveled to wineries with my dad.  While I wasn't old enough to sample the wines, I enjoyed seeing the historic buildings, the vineyards, and the inevitably old dog laying by a fireplace.  Along the way, I picked up an appreciation for the science in the making of the wines, and the devotion of the creators.

I have a strong preference for white wines.  When I read about the Brancott Estate Flight Song wine, I was captured by the descriptive flavors - they sounded like wines I would truly enjoy.  The Pinot Grigio is described as an array of floral notes with nashi pear and sweet lemon, white peach and guava.  The Sauvignon Blanc is described as a medley of pink grapefruit and passion fruit with ripe lemon.  I received a bottle Pinot Grigio and a bottle of Sauvignon Blanc to sample.

I took the wines to my parents' house for a family gathering.  My family is full of wine enthusiasts, and I wanted to see what everyone thought.  They were hugely popular.  My dad said that they were both crisp and refreshing, and he was particularly fond of the Sauvignon Blanc.  My brother, Taylor, who also loved the Sauvignon Blanc, said that it tasted like dew on a spring day.  The grapefruit flavor in the Sauvignon Blanc surprised me initially, but I quickly became fond of the unique citrus taste.

Brancott Estate was the world's first winery to plant and create a Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc - a style that has changed the country's wine industry.  But here's the really amazing thing about these wines.  They have 20% less calories than a typical glass of wine.  The grapes are harvested earlier in the summer, when their sugar levels are naturally lower, which results in a lighter calorie wine.

This is perfect timing for me, as I have finally, after 8+ years, lost the last bit of weight I have carried since having the boys.  I am back to my pre-pregnancy weight, and I did this by being more careful about the amount of calories I consume each day.  While I have always been devoted to staying fit, I was carrying a few extra pounds this whole time, and I never thought I'd see my pre-pregnancy weight again.  It's been an exciting landmark for me, one that is important to me to maintain.  Since losing the weight, there have been several occasions I would have enjoyed a glass of wine at the end of the day, but didn't because of the calories involved.  But the Brancott Estate Flight Song wines are just 87 calories a glass.  They fit right in with my healthy eating goals!

I know that some of my readers have set New Years resolutions about living a healthier lifestyle.  Did you know that 75% of people break their resolutions after just one week?  I'm hoping to maintain my new, slightly lower weight for 2015.  I'd love to see my 40th birthday come this summer with no extra pounds.  And I'm thrilled to know that I can treat myself to a glass of wine at the end of the day without having the guilt of sabotaging my calories for the day.  Plus, I truly savored both of these wines, and they lack nothing in taste!  My favorite was the Pinot Grigio, which isn't quite as bold as the Sauvignon Blanc, but I enjoyed the softer flavor.

You can also find Brancott Estate on Facebook and Twitter.  If you are looking to make a lifestyle change this year with your New Years Resolution, let Flight Song enrich your experience!

When I was in N Italy the whites really drew me in. I enjoy a little of each, and cook with them a lot.

"Dew on a spring day" - I really like that description.

I, too, enjoy wine on occasion, though I prefer reds or blushes.

That's really interesting about how this wine has fewer calories. But it makes sense, that harvesting the grapes earlier in the season when they're not as sweet will yield a wine with fewer calories.

You are so pretty! And I had no idea you were trying to lose a bit, you always look so thin to me. BUT I know this is so hard with three boys around and then your jobs. BRAVO!! I do think calorie counting is the most effective, that is the way I am doing my diet. I count up everything and also try to buy snacks under 50 calories. How do you manage to get companies to let you try things in exchange for posting about them? It really looks like you found a winner!

I love the name of the winery and their artsy label. They would get my attention even if I didn't know about the calories. I got to be a tester at the family gathering and thought they were both light and refreshing, even though I only drink prosecco. These wines reminded me of sparkling wines because they were so crisp.

Not much of a wine drinker, however, when I do, I prefer white...unless it's homemade of course which I like best!...:)JP

These sound good! I don't know a lot about wine, but I tend to like the fruity ones. That's interesting that the calories are lower because of when the grapes are picked.

That is a great photo of you! And congrats on the weight loss. You didn't look like you needed to lose, but I understand having that goal and meeting it.

I too love a glass of wine at the end of the day. I am a red wine girl all the way. Merlot or Cabernet Sauvignon. I also will stop having my evening wine if I need to drop a few pounds. I tend to be on the hyper side, umm no shock there for those that read my blog, so I really enjoy the slowing down gel to a nice glass of wine. Enjoy! Lovely photo of you :O).

What a fun gift for you!
Congratulations for losing the last bit of weight!
I have given up the weight battle, but at age 58 and slowing down, it's to be expected.
I lost 10 lbs. last January. Then hubby had his surgery. I gained it back, sigh.
We have a bunch of wineries in Ontario. We used to have fun visiting them.
Great post.

I haven't had wine since Boone Farm, and you probably are too young to remember. BUT, if I decide to try again, I know I'd definitely like the one you're going with; it just sounds so good.

LISA!!!! You look gorgeous; I've always known you were very pretty, but goodness gracious girl you sure don't look like approaching 40. I'm so glad you take such good care of yourself, not only for you but all 4 of your guys. :)

xoxo

Your achievements are so cool to read about, Lisa! I had my last glass of wine in 2002 when it was discovered I'm deathly allergic to wines. I'm glad you can enjoy them with a nice nod to those early visits!

Sounds like my kind of wine--I love the label! Congrats on losing the last of your baby weight; I was almost there until I put on another 10lbs for the holidays. We're the same age! I'm turning 40 this October...Happy New Year my friend.

U look amazing! I don't like wine, but do have some extra kilos to get rid of, after the birth.

Around here a good wine is one that has a twist off cap and costs more than $3.00 a bottle.

People buy a bottle of cheap wine, look at the label, and say "oh, Sept was a good month!"

My body handles the white wines more than the red ones. The sulphates in the red turn my face bright red. Then my stomach hates me the next day. That's just after a few small glasses.

Awww MAN!! I can't wait to have my baby (I am currently 7 months preggo!) so I can get back into wine drinking! Great review!

Anyhoo, I found your blog through a fellow blogger, and just thought I would stop by and say hi! It would totally make my day if you did the same... or better yet, keep in touch!! <3 - www.domesticgeekgirl.com
