Singin' in the Rain

Last December, Cort auditioned for a part in Singin' in the Rain.  It had been a while since he'd done any tap dancing, but he was thrilled to get the part of "Young Cosmo" despite that.

The production ran for three nights last week.  It was put on by a local performing arts high school.  I cannot begin to tell you how impressed I was by the teenagers in the show.  They could sing and dance and act with the best!  The grand finale was spectacular!  Even after all the practices and performances, I never got tired of it.

And all the teens were extra nice to Cort and helped showed him the ropes.  He sure had a good time.  His new friend, "Young Don", who danced with him in the show, told him about another audition for a different musical coming up.  Cort is interested in doing another.  Me?  I may just need a couple of months to recover...but I certainly did enjoy seeing Singin' in the Rain!

He is so cute! I'm glad he had a good time. One of my nephews did a lot of theatre work when he was little with the Fine Arts Center in Lynchburg. Then he did more in high school and college.

Wow, that's amazing. Go Cort! I LOVE tap dancing. It sounds like this stage performance is only the beginning... I would love it if Lewie showed an interest (and talent) for being in musicals.

Sounds like he had a good time, but I'm sure it was stressful for you. Now the pressure is off and you can rest up for the next one!

Musicals are so fun to be in! I'm glad that he did it and enjoyed it too. AND made some new friends! I think that is good for him to be a part of sometimes as it is a good confidence booster for when you get older and have to be in front of a group of people. Good for him! Your kids do so many cool things! (Good parents!)

I totally agree with you. These high school performances are top notch. Plus, they usually make their own scenery and sets, and costumes. They really amaze me. Oh my, Cort is no longer the little blond curly headed baby. In this picture, I can see how he has really matured. But he still has that gorgeous wavy hair. I do think if I hadn't been so sick, I would have come! We could have all gone out for ice-cream or dinner later.
